Ritzville Adams County Journal, December 11, 2008 Western art auction exceeds expectations
The Cowboy Christmas Art Auction was a rousing success and exceeded expectations of organizers, the Ritzville Downtown Development Association. The auction brought in $7,880 from the sale of 50 items of art donated by artists participating in the 2008 Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show. A total of 47 bidders sought to claim art that ranged from original oils, bronze sculptures to prints. The room was decorated in a cowboy Christmas theme by Melva Eichner assisted by several volunteers. White lights accented tumbleweeds hanging from the ceiling. The refreshments were prepared by Diane Koss and Mike Telecky with several volunteers. Entertainment was provided by Nevada Slim and Cimarron Sue, the same duo who participated in the art show this past spring. They entertained the crowd during the art preview portion of the evening and again after the auction had concluded. Money raised by this auction will be used to fund the 2009 Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show scheduled for May 22-24 in downtown Ritzville. |
