Ritzville’s art show fetes student art, poetry

Ritzville students in grades K-4 provided a wide variety of artwork that was on display during the 2009 Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show in downtown Ritzville.

In addition, students in Steve Nygren’s language arts classes penned original cowboy poetry for the show.

One poem by each language arts student was signed by nationally acclaimed cowboy poet, Waddie Mitchell, during the show.

A judging committee selected the top piece of artwork in grades K-4. The top artist in each class received a Best of Show ribbon.

Winning artists were Sara Jones, kindergarten; Rachel Nygren, first grade; Anna Vlk, second grade; Hannah Reynolds, third grade; and Tyce Escalante, fourth grade.
