More visitors attend annual Historic

Ritzville Days Western Art Show

Organizers of the third annual Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show report a highly successful event during Memorial Day weekend for its registered participants as well as local businesses.

According to a few of the artists at the art show, accommodations were booked a week before the weekend filled with Ritzville High School’s alumni weekend, art show, car show, firemen’s breakfast, etc.

Several downtown businesses reported increased foot traffic and sales during Memorial Day weekend. Ami Danekas, proprietor of Wild Flowers Quilt Shop and Liquor Store, said business was good on Friday and Saturday.

Sunny Spot Floral and Gifts enjoyed increased traffic while Ritzville Computer and Internet reported sales on Saturday and Sunday, days the business is normally closed during the year.

Returning artists noted that the number of people in downtown was possibly double that of last year on Saturday and Sunday, with several agreeing the lineup of free entertainment was a strong addition to the show.
