Dave Stamey to perform during Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show

The streets of downtown Ritzville will fill with the music of Dave Stamey, nationally acclaimed western musician, during the 2010 Historic Ritzville Days Western Art Show.

Named the Entertainer of the Year for 2009 by the Western Music Association, Stamey will perform on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30.

Cowboys and Indians Magazine has called Stamey “the Charley Russell of Western Music.”

He’s been bucked off and stomped by many horses. He has been stepped on by mules and dragged around branding pens by cattle of many sizes.

He’s ridden in the rain, in the snow, in the rain some more, in pretty nasty heat and in feedlot pens where the air was thick and decidedly fragrant. He has been a cowboy, a mule packer, a dude wrangler and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today.

“If you haven’t discovered him yet, it’s time you broadened your horizon,” said Cowboy Magazine about Stamey.

Stamey was listed as the Best Living Solo Western Musician by True West in its Best of the West Sourcebook.

He has been voted Entertainer of the Year, Male Performer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year by the Western Music Association and Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists.

He makes his home in Nipomo, Calif., and travels across the state as well as to 14 states such as Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma and Montana, and he’s shared the stage with Baxter Black and other well-known western musicians.

The Ritzville Downtown Development Association organizes and hosts the western art show annually. In its fourth year, the art show will feature additional entertainment including Cowboy Celtic and Sourdough Slim. The entire event is free to the general public.

The roster of registered participants includes more than 60 of the finest western and wildlife artists from throughout the Pacific Northwest, traditional artisans, regional authors, live demonstrations, open mike for cowboy poets and more.
